Normally I consider it bad luck to disclose anything about a work-in-progress. When people hear you are a writer, they always seem to want to know what's next. (Granted, a few seem satisfied with what you've already written.) In the case of the novel currently under construction, Proof of the Soul, I decided to gamble. So ... betting against the chance my next book will never see the light of day, here's a hint of what you can expect.

Chapter 1
The saints and elders agree that if the door to eternity
opens to an inquiring soul, none will be denied admission.
But consider the man or woman who crosses that
threshold—who enters the infinite domain and dwells there
in the timeless moment—only to turn away. How would the
savants explain this dismissal? How can you explain the
choice of one who rejects enlightenment in favour of
mortality?
